A list of absolute must-sees!

Just so you know, some of the links in this post are affiliate links. If you book something through our link, it won't cost you any more, but we might get a small commission.

Seville is, and probably always will be, our favourite city in the world. It’s the type of place you immediately fall in love with as soon as you arrive. So, we honestly could write pages and pages of sights and tourist attractions that are worth seeing in Seville.

However, we know that many people visiting the city might be short on time, or for whatever reason, struggling to get around the hundreds of unique sights, attractions, experiences and things to do in Seville. So we thought we’d narrow it down to the main landmarks and experiences that really are must-sees whilst you’re visiting Seville.

For a full, detailed guide of all the must-sees plus hidden gems across Seville, have a read of our downloadable Seville Travel Guide. It even includes a self-guided tapas tour, and a digital map of all our tried and tested recommendations in the city, from bars to museums!

Let’s get into the sights that are absolute must-sees and 100% worth a visit in Seville:

If you see just one paid attraction in Seville, it absolutely has to be this one. It’s by far our favourite sightseeing spot in Seville. The palace has so much more to it than you’d expect – each time you turn you find a new room that you haven’t explored.

The architecture plus the peace and stunning design of the gardens, and the history in each room, you just can’t beat it. Make sure to book directly through Alcazar's website to get the best price, and well in advance to ensure you reserve your tickets if you’re visiting in peak season.

Las Setas is a metropolitan parasol that stretches over a huge square. Translating to “the mushrooms” it’s a completely unique structure and is free to view from the outside. There’s even shops and bars underneath it! It lights up in the evening in an array of colours, and you can even get tickets to walk across the top, giving you a panoramic view of the city.

Not only that, Las Setas is set in a wonderful area, surrounded by bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. You can try some local dishes or even take yourself on a self-guided tapas tour before or after your visit.

Literally translating to “Spain Square”, this incredible area has sections dedicated to every region in the country. The architecture is fantastic, and the atmosphere is something else. Completely free to visit, and a sight you’ll remember forever, this square really isn’t one to miss. Generally, you can also catch a free flamenco show here too!

This cathedral is the 4th largest in the world!! There's an entry fee and a dress code if you would like to enter – or just marvel at the exterior design.

It’s within the Santa Cruz neighbourhood (close to the Royal Alcázar) and has stunning cobbled streets nearby leading you through the central district.

Maybe this doesn’t quite fit the definition of a “sight” or a “tourist attraction”, but if you leave Seville without visiting as many tapas bars and restaurants as you possibly can, you’ve missed out! Taste as much delicious Spanish food as you can, especially if you can get something standing at a tapas bar surrounded by locals. It’s such an amazing experience.

To make the most of your trip, consider taking a tapas tour, or even downloading a self-guided tapas tour of the city. Our Seville Travel Toolkit not only tells you about sights to see in the city (including some more must-sees and the hidden gems you really have to search for), but it also includes a self-guided tapas tour. The digital map takes you on a walking route around the city, stopping regularly at tried and tested restaurants for amazing local dishes.

Plus you get over 30 pages of information about the city!! Take a look at our full digital guide to Seville here.

Again, maybe some wouldn’t consider this a sight, but it certainly is something you should experience in the city. We mentioned earlier that you can see a free flamenco show in Plaza de España, which is brilliant. However, we highly recommend also going to see a longer, more complex show with several performers in a dedicated bar or theatre.

Of course, it will be a “touristy” experience, Seville is the home of Flamenco so most tourists visiting the city will want to see it. But, it’s absolutely incredible. We visited this theatre to see a professional Flamenco show and it was amazing from start to finish, we loved every second. Definitely worth seeing!

Depending on your personal interests, you could brand any sight, attraction or experience in Seville as the one that is most “worth seeing”, but these are ones that we truly consider must-sees for every visit.

Here's some more useful information about Seville to help with your visit:

How do I get to Seville?

Seville is easily accessible by air, with direct flights from many major cities around the UK. There is a short, public bus to and from the city centre from the airport. Seville is also easily accessible by train or coach from major cities in Spain and surrounding countries.

Where should I stay in Seville?

We stayed in this apartment in Seville which we can't recommend enough if you're travelling with up to 2 people. It's ridiculously close to the Cathedral and the centre of Seville, and has absolutely everything you need. It has great air conditioning too, which is absolutely needed in this very hot city! Alternatively, search for places to stay in Seville on booking.com to find somewhere that suits your budget and group size:

Do I need a visa to visit Seville?:

Citizens of most countries do not need a visa to visit Spain for a stay of up to 90 days. Read our Schengen Agreement post to find out more details about this rule.

What's the currency in Seville?

The currency of Spain is the Euro. You can change money when you arrive or withdraw from ATMs, but be aware of high conversion fees! Some ATMs may charge you to withdraw money, even if your bank doesn't. It's always best to pay in local currency, but we had no issues paying by card in Seville.

What languages are spoken in Seville?

The official language of Spain is Spanish, but English is widely spoken as Seville is a major city. It's always polite to learn a few phrases, though! You can learn some from the Local Language Cheat Sheet in our Seville Travel Toolkit. Some of the smaller, independent bars and shops, out of the main tourist areas, may only speak very little English.

What's the weather like in Seville?

Seville is in the very South of Spain so it's pretty warm all year around. When we visited in June it was getting up to 40° Celsius, but there was a heatwave. Here's the average high / low temperatures for each season:

Spring: 24°C / 14°C

Summer: 35°C / 19°C

Autumn: 26°C / 14°C

Winter: 16°C / 7°C

What's the time zone in Seville?

Spain is in the Central European Time Zone, usually an hour ahead of the UK.

What other sights are worth seeing in Seville? Are there any hidden gems?

We have absolutely loads of recommendations of things to do in our Seville Travel Toolkit, a full digital guide to Seville including a self-guided tapas tour, must-sees, hidden gems, bar and restaurant guides, and even language and culture information.

Alternatively, you can look for things to do in Seville with GetYourGuide here.
